St. Joseph College, Ukhrul, in collaboration with Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long (TMNL), successfully hosted the Celebration of Art and Culture Day on the 10th of May, 2024. The enriching event was held at the college auditorium under the theme “Tracing the Roots of Our Unique Culture.” The programme was organized by the Department of Political Science, St. Joseph College, to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of the diverse cultural heritages of the tribal’s in Manipur. By partnering with Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long, the event aimed to bridge academic insights with traditional wisdom, providing a comprehensive cultural exploration and interaction.

Joseph Thohrii, Vice Principal welcome all the special dignitaries, Teachers , students and the alumni.Dr. Seraphina Kamei, HOD, Dept of Political Science, St. Joseph College delivered the key note address. Dr. Ringkahao Horam, Head of the Department of Political Science at Modern College, Imphal, served as the principal speaker. The event was further graced by distinguished personalities and performers like Guru A.S Rawung, Changthar Leikha & Co., and Thotreiso Keishing. Yaireila H.A spoke on behalf of the alumni and expressed words of encouragement.
The auditorium was filled with an enthusiastic crowd, comprising mostly students and faculty members along with local artists and cultural aficionados. The Celebration of Art and Culture Day concluded on a high note, with participants expressing a renewed pride and deeper connection to their cultural roots. The collaboration between academic institutions and cultural organizations like TMNL proved to be a fruitful model for promoting cultural awareness and engagement among the younger generation. The day was not only a celebration but also a significant step toward understanding and preserving the unique cultural identity of the region, promising ongoing initiatives to keep this spirit alive in the hearts and minds of the community. It may be mentioned that, to mark the occasion the College launched the memento with the College logo to signify the brand and trademark of the institution.
